Animal Services To Offer Low-Cost drive-thru Rabies Vaccination Clinics
It's time to get your doggie or kitty cats annual rabies shots, and the Office of Animal Services is making that task a lot easier. Spare yourself and your pet the extra stress of a vet visit, by coming out to one of two rabies clinics.
The Annual Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinics are hosted by the Office of Animal Services each year in an effort to make sure all pets in the area have the proper vaccinations. It's important owners understand that Calcasieu Parish and Louisiana State Code requires all dogs and cats over three months be vaccinated and licensed. That said Animal Services understands times get hard and not everyone can afford an extra bill, let alone a vet bill. So here's an affordable, low stress way of making sure your animal has the necessary shots to keep them healthy.
See the clinic dates, time, and locations below:
April 1, 2017 7am – Noon
Burton Coliseum Complex Parking Lot
7001 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles, LA 70607
Micro-chipping will also be available!
These clinics are not only affordable, but help prevent the spread of rabies infection in Calcasieu Parish. The vaccination and licensing fee for spay/neutered animals is $8 and $10 for Unaltered pets. Pet owners may pay by cash or check only, credit or debit cards WILL NOT be accepted. Once your animal has been vaccinated they are required to wear a rabies license tag at all times. Cat owners are encouraged to place the tag on a humane breakaway collar.
Reminder: The legal definition of a pet owner is “any person, business or any other legal entity that provides care, harbors, acts as custodian, or permits and animal to remain on or about his premises.” In the event someone is bitten, this person or entity could be held responsible.
