Animals That Don’t Exist Anywhere Else On The Planet, But Louisiana And Mississippi
Louisiana animals are a lot like the people, very diverse and unique. To be perfectly honest, the state has some pretty strange-looking critters. Many rare animals, including a vast group of exotics, endangered and endemic species like the Catahoula Leopard Dog, a rare breed that lives along the Gulf.
The Nutra was originally brought to the Pelican State from Argentina. It's a giant rodent as big as a medium-sized dog that weighs 20 pounds or more. The Louisiana Gopher Tortoise is also an endangered species, that's known for being able to survive extreme temperatures thanks to their well-built burrows.
Louisiana's murky swamp and bayou waters are home to hundreds of wild animals, including gators, fish, snakes, and rodents. If you think those critters are unusual, there are a few animals that can't be found anywhere else on Earth but in Louisiana and neighboring Mississippi:
