The annual festival celebrates African American culture, history, music, food, and community. The event is open to everyone and has become one of Southwest Louisiana's biggest cultural celebrations. As it has in years past, the festival will bring multiple days of events, music, shopping, and more.
One of the biggest events of the festival will be the Black Heritage Festival Concert at Sudduth Coliseum on March 13.
While the concert is expected to be a major part of the festival, the Black Heritage Festival is much more than a music event. The festival is designed to bring people together while celebrating African American history, art, traditions, and achievements. Past festivals have featured events for seniors, formal concerts, family days, live performances, food vendors, local businesses, health events, kids' activities, and gospel music.
Community and Family Day has also been one of the biggest parts of the festival. The event gives families a chance to enjoy live entertainment, food, vendors, and activities for people of all ages. The festival also gives local and regional Black-owned businesses a chance to showcase what they have to offer.
