It won't be Summer's last gasp but it's at least a hint that Fall and more tolerable temperatures will eventually arrive across South Louisiana in the coming weeks. Forecasters are predicting that an approaching cold front will ramp up the chance of showers across the area today and Tuesday.

By Wednesday morning the front should have passed through the I-10 corridor and behind the system will be cooler and much drier air. This will certainly give South Louisiana residents a small taste of Fall.

Temperatures across the region on Wednesday morning are expected to be in the middle 60's. This is actually closer to average than we've experience over the past several weeks. The high temperature for Wednesday  will be in the middle 80's.  It will warm up slightly on Thursday and then a reinforcing shot of cooler air could drop the morning temperature for Friday morning into the upper 50's.

Other than a chance of showers today and Tuesday the balance of the work week should remain partly cloudy to mostly sunny. You might want to wipe out the gumbo pot because official gumbo weather won't be that far behind.
