Coolio has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon after attempting to get a gun through Los Angeles International Airport. He could face up to three years in prison if convicted.

The "Gangsta's Paradise" rapper made things worse by no showing his court date today (Oct. 13), according to TMZ. The former WC and the Maad Circle member's lawyer explained the absence by claiming his client had a performance in St. Louis and was unable to make it back in time. The judge was lenient about the no show but did order Coolio to appear in court on Oct. 26.

Coolio was originally arrested on (Sept. 17) at Los Angeles International Airport along with some members of his crew. Coolio and company were accused to trying to get a firearm past a security checkpoint.

The attempt failed as a book bag belonging to one of the members of the crew was flagged by the TSA. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the bag contained a loaded gun. One of Coolio's friends tried to take the blame, but witnesses claimed it was in Coolio's possession.

Unfortunately, Coolio joined a long list of rappers who have been arrested at airports for gun possession. Family members of rappers are even getting caught doing it. Back in June, T.I.'s daughter was taken into custody after trying to get a gun through security.
