The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is participating in a new campaign to crackdown on unrestrained drivers. The campaign is called Buckle Up In Your Truc. It kicked off on April 17 and is ending this weekend on April 24. The campaign is in partnership with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

CPSO will conduct a seat belt checkpoint at an undisclosed location this Saturday, April 24. The checkpoint will focus on individuals not wearing seat belts in pick-up trucks or any other types of vehicle. Being someone who has been in a few accidents myself, I know the importance of wearing your seat belt. While many will talk about the discomfort of being strapped in and some would even complain about the wrinkling of their clothes, it does save lives. I would much rather look like my shirt just came out the dryer than possibly being carried off on a stretcher.

Be on the lookout and continue to be safe. We want to make sure you are around for the long haul. You simply have keep it in mind to wear your seat belt and protect yourself and your loved ones.
