Dr. Dre To Fund Performing Arts Center With Royalties From Compton – Tha Wire [VIDEO]
Dr. Dre is putting his money were his mouth is and giving back to the city that made him the star he is today. BET reports the rap legend called into Apples Beats 1 radio show with Zane Lowe and announced he’s going to donate all the royalties made off the sales of his new album to build a performing arts center in Compton.
How cool is that? In addition, Dre is working with Compton Mayor, Aja Brown to make the center a reality. During the interview Dre revealed, “I’ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn’t quite figure out what it was. [Brown] actually had this idea, and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, ‘Boom, this is what we should do."
Earlier this month on Dre talked about how the movie inspired him to get back into the studio. The new motivation gave birth to Compton: A Soundtrack, which features 16-tracks of old and new collabs for artists like Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Xzibit and more.
Straight Outta Compton opens in theaters nationwide this Friday, don't miss it!
