Future Buc-ee’s Grand Opening Schedule Includes Louisiana’s First Location!

If it seems like a new Buc-ee’s been popping up everywhere in the last two years. You're right! Buc-cee's has been a highway phenomenon since it opened in Lake Jackson, Texas, in 1982. Since then, the mega convenience store has expanded to 58 locations.

Today, Buc-ee's has convenience stores in every southern state along the Gulf Coast to the southernmost tip of Florida. Despite founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin III being born in Harrisonburg, LA, there is no Buc-ee in his home state—at least not yet. If all goes well, we will have a projected grand opening date for the first Louisiana Buc-ees to open in 2025!

WHAT'S THE LATEST ON THE RUSTON, LOUISIANA BUC-EE'S PROJECT?

In a second attempt to expand to Bayou State, Buc-ee's negotiations for a new location, a $50 million project in Ruston, LA, were successful. In 2023, the company reportedly purchased 53,000 square feet of land for their new store off the new I-20 Tarbutton Exchange. On Friday, April 26, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the City of Ruston, the state, and the Federal Highway Administration, moving the project closer to breaking ground.

At last word, Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker announced, "We are still waiting for approval from DOTD"  to break ground on the future Buc-ee's lot. According to Mayor Walker, city and state officials are working to determine the safest and most efficient way to accommodate potential heavy traffic after Buc-ee's is built.

THE NEWEST BUC-EE'S LOCATIONS 

1.) Hillsboro, Texas - Now Open April 21, 2024

2.) Smiths Grove, Kentucky - Now Open June 24, 2024

FUTURE BUC-EE'S LOCATIONS OPENING 2025-2026

1.) Brunswick, Georgia - Opening January 2025 - The Brunswick store will be 74,000 sq feet, located off 1-95 and State Hwy 99. The company broke ground in January 2024.

2.) Amarillo, Texas - Opening February 2025 - Buc-ee's broke ground on its first location in the Texas Panhandle on October 26, 2023. The project is expected to take 14 months to complete. The future Buc-ee’s Amarillo is located at I-40 and Airport Blvd and will occupy 74,000 square feet with 120 fueling positions and 24 EV charging stations.

3.) Ruston, Louisiana -  Late 2025 / Early 2026 Grand Opening TBA - Buc-ee's located off I-20 across from Ruston Junior High School, the new Bu-cee’s will bring 250 jobs with starting pay at $16/hour. Progress in breaking ground on the project is on track for a late 2025 or early 2026 opening. Ruston Buc-ee's will follow the new standard model of 74,000 square feet with 120 fueling positions and 24 EV charging stations.

4.) Rockingham County, Virginia - 2026 Opening TBA - Buc-ee's broke ground on the $60 million project in January 2024. Construction is estimated to take 17 months or more. The future location will be 21 acres off Exit 240 in Rockingham County, including 120 fueling stations and 24 electric vehicle charging stations.

5.) Boerne, Texas - 2026 Opening TBA - The Buc-ee's Boerne location will be a 53,000-square-foot facility along the Frontage Road of I-10 at the U.S. Business 87 intersection. Like the Louisiana project, the opening date depends on the construction schedule and takes 16 to 18 months after construction begins to complete.
