WGNO ABC News reports Saints fans are the only ones upset with the way the 2019 NFC Championship ended Sunday, January 20, 2019 between the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Rams. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said the no-call on pass interference was “…so out of bounds that it affected the fundamental fairness of the game…”.

CBS Sports reports Saints fans started a petition, which already has nearly met its goal of 1 million signatures, with more than 702,832 in only 3 days. It reads in part:

Refs missed a blatant pass interference call against the Los Angeles Rams late in fourth quarter of Jan. 20 NFC Championship game, possibly costing New Orleans Saints a trip to the Super Bowl. Due to refs’ inability to properly officiate at the game, we the undersigned want a re-match against L.A. on Sunday, Jan. 27. It’s the only fair solution to this travesty of epic proportions.

sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Tuesday, January 22, requesting that the league take action. The governor wrote the game should've been decided by the players on the field, not an error on behalf of NFL referees.

In the letter, Governor Edwards Louisiana will get over this, but we will not forget. He went on to praise the New Orleans Saints, their fans and the state adding we've had to overcome much bigger events. He wrapped-up the letter saying, “I look forward to hearing your response.”

Saints owner Gayle Benson, released a statement making her disappointment in the league egregious error Monday January 21, 2019. Via the New Orleans Saints official fan page Benson wrote, "No team should ever be denied the opportunity to reach the title game (or simply win a game) based on the actions, or inactions, of those charged with creating a fair and equitable playing field." She closed with "The NFL must always commit to providing the most basic of expectations — fairness and integrity.”

Saints coach Sean Payton, expressed his disgust with league refs admitting to him that they blew the call. He said it was hard to swallow:

There's a lot of things the Saints could have done, after the now infamous no-call. No one wants to hear AFTER the fact that "we blew the call." Everyone is calling this THE WORST BLOWN CALL in the history of NFL Football. Looks like everyone is waiting to hear what Goodall has to say about this. We'll be waiting too!
