Gucci Mane, Pi’erre Bourne, Lil Nas X and More: New Projects This Week
It’s that time of the year again! XXL’s 12th annual Freshman Cover has been unveiled and as always it features the hottest new acts to emerge over the last few years. A few former freshmen put out new projects in what is a packed weekend for fresh hip-hop releases.
Gucci Mane is back. One of the hardest working artists in hip-hop returns with another album titled Delusions of Grandeur. The feature-heavy project finds Guwop teaming up with a top-tier selection of artists including Justin Bieber, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Gunna, Anuel AA and Meek Mill, who appears on the single, “Backwards.”
Thanks to his mega-hit “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X has taken the country by storm. Holding down the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for more than 10 weeks, the country-trap mash-up set the stage for 7. Out now, the Atlanta artist’s debut EP features the recently released “Panini,” as well as seven other tracks including "Rodeo" featuring Cardi B.
Pi'erre Bourne, the beat smith behind Playboi Carti's hit single "Magnolia" and 6ix9ine's breakout hit "Gummo," returns with another full-length project with The Life of Pi'erre 4. The new offering contains 16 brand new tracks. Bourne is coming off collabing with Yung Nudy on the Sli'merre project.
