At one time they said hip-hop was just a fad, and it would never last. Well, here we are over 40 years later and still kicking butt and taking names with three artists in the top 5.

July was a big month for hip-hop with Jay Z releasing his latest album 4:44 and Dj Khaled's Ihe month of August, Kendrick Lamar's Damn., Meek Mill's Wins and Losses, and Tyler the Creator's Flower Boy are all in the top 5 of the Billboard "Top 200 Albums" chart. They're also top 3 on the "R&B/Hip-Hop Albums" chart.

Lana Del Rey's Lust for Life is on a fast track to number one this week, which will beat out any hip-hop albums who are still among the top 5 hottest albums currently on the Billboard 200.

Congrats go out to K. Dot, Meek, and Tyler as the week continues.
