Cajun Weekend Weather Report: Get Ready for the 50s, SWLA!
KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Alright y'all, welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and I think it's finally time to make an announcement. GO FIND THAT HOODIE! I'm not talking about one of those mornings where it drops to 68 degrees for about 15 minutes before Mother Nature cranks the heater back up. I'm talking about temperatures dropping into the 50s! FIFTIES, Y'ALL!
According to AccuWeather, Southwest Louisiana is looking at a pretty big change for the weekend of October 16th through October 18th. We're starting Friday in the mid-80s, but by Sunday, we're talking highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s, and plenty of sunshine. And here's the best part. THE HUMIDITY IS FINALLY TAKING A BREAK!
Somebody check on the mosquitoes. They might need a jacket, too.
Friday: Summer Gets One Last Word.
Friday starts the weekend with a high around 85 degrees and a low around 62. We'll have a mixture of sunshine and clouds, with a RealFeel around 89 degrees. So Friday afternoon is still gonna feel a little like summer. Apparently, Louisiana just can't let go without one more reminder of what we've been dealing with for the last six months. AccuWeather is showing only a 3% chance of rain, so outdoor plans are looking pretty good.

One thing worth mentioning is that the forecast also lists several hours of precipitation despite that very low rain chance. Those numbers don't quite match up, so I'd keep an eye on the updated forecast. But Friday night? That's when things start getting interesting. 62 DEGREES!
Saturday: HERE COMES FALL!
Saturday is the day I've been waiting for. We're looking at a high around 77 degrees and a low Saturday night around 57 degrees. FIFTY-SEVEN! I don't know about y'all, but I'm pretty sure somebody in Southwest Louisiana is gonna wake up Saturday morning and immediately start digging through the closet. And it gets better. AccuWeather is calling for plenty of sunshine, lower humidity, and a 0% chance of rain. The RealFeel is expected to be around 76 degrees. We'll also have a north-northeast wind around 14 mph, which should make it feel pretty nice outside. This is the kind of weather where you can actually sit on the patio without sweating through your shirt. Football? Perfect. Cookout? Absolutely. Sitting outside doing absolutely nothing? EVEN BETTER!
Sunday: Somebody Find the Gumbo Pot!
Sunday might be even better than Saturday. We're looking at a high around 75 degrees and a low Sunday night around 55 degrees. FIFTY-FIVE! Y'all, we've officially entered the part of the year where people in Louisiana start acting like we live in Alaska. Somebody's gonna have a hoodie on. Somebody else is gonna be wearing shorts and flip-flops. And somebody's grandma is gonna tell everybody to put on a jacket before they catch a cold. AccuWeather is calling for plenty of sunshine, a 0% chance of rain, and a RealFeel around 76 degrees. And with those temperatures? I think we can officially start talking about making a big ol' pot of gumbo. Not just because it's October. Because it might actually FEEL like October!
Here's Your Weekend Game Plan
Friday: High of 85, low of 62. Warm during the afternoon with sunshine and clouds.
Saturday: High of 77, low of 57. Sunny, less humid, and absolutely beautiful fall weather.
Sunday: High of 75, low of 55. Plenty of sunshine and another gorgeous day.
