City of Lake Charles Announces More Partners in Parks Events

The City of Lake Charles announced on Monday the addition of more Partners in Parks events. These events will take place across parks through Lake Charles in the months of July through September.

On Saturday, July 15, they will have Arcs and Sparks. This event will take place at Hillcrest Park from 10 a.m. to noon.

Art in the Park will return on Saturday, July 22, with a free event from 10 a.m. – noon at Drew Park.

August will feature a special Lake Charles Fire Department Junior Firefighter/State Farm Family Safety Day at Hillcrest Park, a Sasol Nature in Focus Insect Encounter at Tuten Park, and another edition of Art in the Park at Grace Medora Park.

“Our parks are a critical component of quality of life in the City of Lake Charles,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “Our first two quarters of the year have been filled with a number of successful events and we look forward to continuing to build on these successes. Programs like these are a small part of a larger effort we are making across the City through our Partners in Parks initiative to expand opportunities for citizens of all ages to make their way outside and explore science and nature in their own backyard.”

In July 2018, Mayor Hunter’s administration launched its citywide Partners in Parks initiative aimed at combing private and public dollars to improve park infrastructure and expand programming. To date, Partners in Parks has injected over a million dollars into the City’s parks without any additional taxation on local citizens.
