19Jennings, Louisiana - A new report looking at crime statistics across the state has listed a Southwest Louisiana town as one of Louisiana's most dangerous cities in 2026.

Louisiana is known for its culture, music, food, and bayou life. Millions of people visit the state every year. But like many places in the country, some cities have higher crime rates than others.

According to US News, Louisiana ranks near the bottom nationally when it comes to crime and safety. The state is No. 50 in Crime & Corrections and No. 46 in low violent crime rate, based on FBI data measuring crimes like murder, robbery, and assault per 100,000 people.

A report from South Hill Enterprises uses crime data from sources like the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting program and local law enforcement records, and ranks cities based on violent crime and property crime rates.

Jennings, Louisiana Ranked in Top 10 of Most Dangerous Cities in Louisiana

In the report, Jennings is ranked No. 8 on a list of the 10 most dangerous cities in Louisiana based on violent crime rates.

Jennings reports about 1,012 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, which is higher than the state average. The report says this is about 85% above the Louisiana average. Property crime in Jennings is also listed at about 4,880 incidents per 100,000 people. This includes things like theft, burglary, and car break-ins.

The report also includes other Louisiana cities such as Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Monroe, Alexandria, and Marksville. Marksville is ranked as the highest in the state for violent crime rates.
