Labor Day To-Do List: Lake Charles & SWLA Events
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - September is here, folks, and right off the bat, we will be celebrating the Labor Day weekend starting on Friday. There are a ton of things going on in the Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana area for the holiday weekend.
Looking to go to a concert? How about going to watch a High School or College Football game? Maybe you're just looking to go to a park and enjoy the outdoors. There is something for everyone in the area, and we have made a list for you.
The Flamethrowers will be playing the Cowboy Block Party this Friday night, September 4th, 2026. The block party is located on the corner of McNeese & Common Streets in Lake Charles at the Grove. The doors open at 6:00 pm, and the band will take the stage around 7:15 pm. It's free and open to all ages. You can bring your lawn chairs and ice chest with whatever you want to drink.
The 2026 Louisiana High School football season gets this Thursday and Friday night underway. All of the local Southwest Louisiana schools will be in action. The marquee matchup in week one pits the defending state champion Iowa Yellow Jackets against the Barbe Bucs on Thursday night.
The Cal-Cam Fair is taking place at the West Cal Arena in Sulphur, Louisiana, this Friday through Sunday. Check out the entire three-day festival lineup here.
Comedian Steve Treviño will bring his stand-up show to the Grand Event Center at Golden Nugget Lake Charles this Saturday, September 5, at 8 p.m. If you are looking to laugh, then this is for you!

The LSU Tigers will open up the 2026 college football season this Saturday night in Baton Rouge when they host the Clemson Tigers. The game will kick off at 6:30 pm., and the game will be televised nationally on ABC.
The Chee Weez will be performing live at Jellystone RV Park and Resort in Lake Charles on Saturday night starting at 7:00 pm. The popular party band will be playing a variety of your favorite songs under the pavilion.
The McNeese Cowboys will host Texas Wesleyan in Navarre Stadium this Saturday night. Kickoff for the game is set for 6:00 pm. If you can't make it to the game, you can watch it on ESPN+.
