The McNeese Football Team will be hosting its 2nd Annual “Victory Day” in Cowboy Stadium in August. This event will provide cognitively and physically impaired children ages 8-18 the opportunity to play football or cheer, as well as participate in several game-day activities.

Last year, McNeese Head Coach Gary Goff wanted to continue a tradition that Coach Goff had recently done in previous stops and give back to the community in a special way.

"We did this while I was at Tiffin but weren't able to do it for a couple of years because of Covid. It's a special day to be able to give back to the community and help somebody and give these children a chance to see what it's like to go through a camp, to score a touchdown, to simulate a game and have the band playing and cheerleaders cheering after they score. - McNeese Head Coach Gary Goff

Last year, each camper was partnered with a McNeese Football player and had their name called out by McNeese Gameday Public Address Announcer Bruce Merchant over the stadium PA system. Just like the Cowboys do when they take the field, the camper ran through the tunnel formed by the spirit squads and band, and with the team meeting them at midfield.

At the conclusion of the event last year, each camper was awarded a Victory Day medal and two tickets to a home football game.

This year, the event will be taking place on August 8th from 6-9 pm in Cowboy Stadium. If you would like more information about the event, email Mike Johnson at Mjohnson17@mcneese.edu
