National Girl Scout Day Is March 12 — Time To Call Your Cookie Dealer
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — If you live around Southwest Louisiana, you already know what time of year it is.
Yep… cookie season.
And don’t act like you don’t have a “dealer.”
We all got one.
Maybe it’s your niece.
Maybe it’s the kid next door.
Maybe it’s that sweet little Girl Scout that shows up at your office with a wagon full of Thin Mints and a smile you just can’t say no to.
Well this coming Thursday, March 12th, we all got a good reason to check in with our cookie supplier… because it’s National Girl Scout Day.
Now most folks around here think Girl Scouts is just about cookies. And look, I ain’t gonna lie, those cookies are pretty hard to beat.
History of the Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts in America actually started on March 12th, 1912. A woman named Juliette Gordon Low started the first troop. That first meeting had just 18 girls sitting around learning new things.
Juliette wanted girls to grow up strong, confident, and ready for anything. So she started programs that taught them life skills, outdoor adventures, service projects, and leadership...lets not forget Cookie Sales.
And it took off pretty quick.
By 1920, there were almost 70,000 Girl Scouts across the country.
By 1930, that number jumped to over 200,000.
Today, Girl Scouts has grown to more than 3.7 million members. That’s a whole lotta young ladies learning how to lead, serve their communities, and build confidence.
The original name was actually the Girl Guides of America, but the mission stayed the same.
What's the Girl Scouts Motto?
“Be Prepared.”
What's the Girl Scout Slogan?
“Do a Good Turn Daily.”
That’s some pretty solid advice for all of us, honestly.
The whole goal of Girl Scouts is to help build girls of courage, confidence, and character. The kind of folks who grow up and make the world a better place.
So this Thursday, when you see a Girl Scout out selling cookies… remember, you’re not just buying dessert.
You’re helping a kid learn how to talk to people, run a small business, and believe in herself.
And if you haven’t stocked up yet…
Well… it might be time to call your cookie dealer and see if they got one more box of Thin Mints left.
