Popular Louisiana Hooters Location Shuts Down
(KNGT-FM) - If you’ve heard the rumors about Hooters shutting down restaurants across the country, you’re not alone, and yes, it’s true that many locations have closed their doors for good. But what about Louisiana? We are not affected by the recent bankruptcy filings, but it does appear one Louisiana location will be closing its doors, but for different reasons...
Hooters restaurants across the country have been going through some tough times. From financial troubles to store closures, fans of the famous wings and cold beer have been worried about what’s next. The popular chain has been dealing with a $300 million debt, forcing it to close about 40 underperforming locations in states like Rhode Island, Virginia, Florida, Kentucky, and even Texas.
With all the talk about Hooters possibly filing for bankruptcy, a lot of people in Louisiana were wondering if their local restaurants would be affected, too.
Well, we have some good news — and a little bad news.
Back in February, Hooters of Louisiana gave an update to Gator 99.5, letting everyone know that the potential bankruptcy of Hooters of America will NOT affect Louisiana locations. Hooters of Louisiana has been around since 1991, running eight restaurants across the state. In a statement, Greg Gibson, Vice President of Hooters of Louisiana, made it clear that they are financially strong and plan to keep serving up wings, beer, and good times for many more years.
“We will continue to provide our loyal customers with the hospitality and service they deserve. Thanks to our great customers, employees, and alumni, we’ve been an industry icon and look forward to serving Louisiana for another 34 years,” Gibson said.
However, there is one location that is closing.
Hooters announced on Monday that the Boardwalk location in Shreveport has permanently closed. But don’t worry — it’s not because of bankruptcy. They simply chose not to renew the lease after 20 great years of serving the Shreveport community.

In a statement, Hooters said,
"We are not filing bankruptcy; our lease just ran out. We want to thank the Hooters staff and the Bossier City community for an amazing 20 years. We still love making chicken wings, so visit us at our other Louisiana locations for hot wings, cold beer, all your favorite sports, and of course – the Hooters Girls."
There are no other plans to close any more Louisiana Hooters restaurants. You can still enjoy your favorites at these locations across the state:
- Gretna (Westbank): 2781 Belle Chasse Hwy
- Metairie: 4748 Veterans Blvd
- Houma: 1619 Martin Luther King Blvd
- Slidell: 1776 Gause Blvd
- Baton Rouge (Siegen Lane): 6454 Siegen Lane
- Baton Rouge (College Drive): 5120 Corporate Blvd
- Denham Springs: 254 Range 12 Blvd
So if you’ve been craving wings, burgers, and a cold beer while watching the big game, don’t worry — Louisiana’s Hooters restaurants are here to stay!
