🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Lake Charles, LA — Alright y’all… today’s kinda special for me.

Two years.

Two years of waking up at 4am. Two years of coffee before the sun comes up. Two years of getting on that mic and saying good morning to Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas.

And let me tell you… it is an absolute honor.

I still remember the night it all started. I was emceeing a fundraising event, just doing my thing, talking loud and having fun. Outta nowhere, Mike Soileau walks up to me and says, “Hey… you ever think about doing a morning show with me on Gator 99.5?”

Now I’ve known Mike for years. Through radio. Through Russ. Through life around here. So when he asked, I kinda laughed at first. I thought he was joking.

He wasn’t.

Only problem was… I’ve got what most folks call a “real job.” I’m an Instrument and Electrical Designer for an engineering company. So I made a few phone calls. Talked to my bosses. Told them what was on my heart.

And thank the good Lord… they said yes. They let me come in late and stay late.

What a lotta people don’t know is my day starts at 4am. And most days I don’t get home till after 6pm. It’s long. It’s busy. Some days I’m running on fumes.

But I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Because this job? It’s more than a job.

It’s meeting folks like Jelly Roll, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, and Joe Nichols. It’s shaking hands. Taking pictures. Hearing stories. It’s watching this community show up every single day.

And I’m just a hometown boy. Grew up in Sulphur. Sulphur High Class of 2001. I take pride in being from right here in SWLA. I ain’t from some big city. I’m one of y’all.

So when I get to sit in that studio and talk about what’s happening in Lake Charles, Sulphur, Orange, Beaumont… that means something to me.

I want to say thank you. For listening. For supporting. For laughing at our dumb jokes. For sticking with us even when I mess up celebrity birthdays… which I promise I’m gonna get better at.

And a big shout out to Mike Soileau, Chaston “Chaz” Tavares, and Patrick Frey. Y’all have become like family to me. I’m proud to call you friends.

Two years down.

We’re just getting started.

Love y’all.
