
Severe Weather Forces Closures in Lake Charles & SWLA Wednesday
All of Southwest Louisiana has been experiencing thunder, lightning, and heavy downpours since Tuesday afternoon. Overnight last night, the weather went south with heavy rain, causing roads to flood and power outages all over the area.
Due to the severe weather, officials with the school boards in different parishes throughout Southwest Louisiana, local agencies, and private entities decided to close down today due to the weather forecast.
Schools, roads, and offices are closed all over the lake area, and we are also dealing with power outages in the area. We have a list of all these closures and outages for you here.

Schools closed Wednesday, May 7, 2025
- McNeese University- Will announce plans for today at 9:00 am
- Charter schools (Students will have virtual instruction)
- Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School.

- Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis parish state offices are closed

Roads Closed Or Have High Water
- High Water on Camp Edgewood Road in Beauregard Parish
- 171 south shut down south of Deridder, north of Longville at Barnes Creek
- Hwy 171 Southbound at Hauser Road in Beauregard Parish is closed due to being under water per the Louisiana State Police
