Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Tailgating Must-Haves

🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Lake Charles, LA — Ok Southwest Louisiana, this is what we have been waiting for all year long. Its Mardi Gras Time. Now, weather you are a seasoned Pro or just a rookie, this list below is going to make you the superstar of you Mardi Gras Tailgating Spot.

Last year some of my friends learned the hard way. Which got me thinking, lets get a complete list so you know what to bring and what not to bring.

What to Bring to a Tailgate Party

1. The Essentials (aka: Stuff You Actually Need)

• Lawn Chair: You’re gonna get tired, its better to have somewhere to sit, you don’t wanna sit on the Ice Chest and have to stand up every 5-10 minutes.
• Ice Chest: Pack you a cooler full of drinks for you and the kids, be sure to stay hydrated.
• A Good Attitude: Don’t go out there and be a problem, Mardi Gras is a celebration, be kind to one another.

2. Food & Drinks (So You Don’t End Up Eating Mystery Gumbo)

• Boudin: its always a goto when tailgating, its quick and easy.
• King Cake: this is a no brainer, you gotta have King Cake to celebrate
• Tailgate Grill: Just a small one will work, just incase you come across some sauage that needs to be cooked… you never know.
• Plenty of Beer: Im sure I don’t even need to explain why.
• Water: Trust me, You need it.

3. Mardi Gras Survival Gear (So You Make It to the End of the Parade)

• Rain Poncho: Even though the forecast doesn’t look like rain, its better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
• Sunglasses: keep them eyes protected in the sun.
• Comfortable Shoes: don’t be running around in your cowboy boots, ya feet gonna be hurting.

4. Things You Should Bring, But Will Probably Forget

• Toilet Paper: kinda like the poncho, better to have a little bit for that “just in case moment”
• Hand Sanitizer: ya know, to keep the Covid at bay.
• A Trash Bag: this should go without say, but please pick up your trash.
