The LSU Tigers punched their ticket to the 2023 Men's College World Series over the weekend with a series win over Kentucky. The Tigers won 14-0 in Game One and took an 8-3 victory in Game Two. This is the first time since 2017 that the Tigers will be heading back to Omaha for a trip to the College World Series.

In 2017, Southwest Louisiana was represented on the roster with the Jordan twins from Lake Charles. Beau and Bryce Jordan were both on the roster and contributed during the 2017 season. In 2023, the Tigers will have a trio of Southwest Louisiana athletes on the College World Series roster. Gavin Guidry (Lake Charles), Ethan Frey (Rosepine), and Garrett Edwards (Pitkin) are all on the roster.

Edwards is a Junior for the Tigers and unfortunately had his season cut short with a season-ending injury. Before the injury, Edwards was one of the best arms out of the Tiger bullpen. Edwards was on pace to have some of the best numbers in the nation posting an ERA under 2 and a 4-0 record
