Businesses big and small have to make the tough decisions of keeping stores open or closing them permanently. We have seen our fair share of companies closing all across the country and even large conglomerates like Walmart are not immune to the climate we see in 2024.

USA Today first broke the news that Walmart would close 51 centers across five states due to rising costs. The states that will be affected are Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Texas.

Walmart issued a statement and said that they would be closing 51 locations of its Walmart Health centers due to rising costs. Arkansas will see three locations close, Florida will have 23 locations close, Georgia will see 17 locations close, Illinois will have one location close, and in Texas, you will see seven locations closing.

The Walmart Health centers opened up just five short years ago. What is a Walmart Health Center you ask?

According to the press release,

The health centers provide a range of services, including medical, dental, and behavioral health care. While our mission to help people save money and live better remains, today we are sharing the difficult decision to close Walmart Health and Walmart Health Virtual Care. Through our experience managing Walmart Health centers and Walmart Health Virtual Care, we determined there is not a sustainable business model for us to continue.
