In Clute, Texas, Arch "Beaver" Aplin founded his first business with partners in 1982. Combining his childhood nickname, Buck, the name of his Labrador Retriever, and the allure of Ipana toothpaste's cartoon mascot, Bucky the Beaver and created the moniker Buc-ee's. Aplin was raised in Harrisonburg, Louisiana; his grandparents were from Harrisonburg, Louisiana, and he was born in Southeast Texas. In 2003, Buc-ee's first travel center was in Luling, Texas.

When I hit up a Buc-ee's you'll find me head straight to the jerky wall. I love getting the exotic animal jerk.  It totally grosses out my wife, which is an added value, but my son and I usually get 4 or five bags and their gone within days.
