(Lafayette, Louisiana) - St. Patrick's Day at one Lafayette Parish elementary school got a bit emotional as two fathers returned home early from their duty to surprise their kids.

Capt. Jonathan Brasseaux and Master Sgt. Rick Domec returned home a few days early from deployment in Europe, and rather than just showing up at home, they contacted J Wallace James, where their kids go to school, and they coordinated a surprise appearance.

While many of the students in attendance thought they were attending a St. Patrick's Day event at the school, they did not know that two military dads had returned home early and were about to surprise their kids.

As you would expect, the soldiers' kids have been counting the days down to their fathers' return, but they did not know that their fathers had returned home early and were awaiting them at school.

KATC shared that Sgt. Domec's son, Andrew, always wanted his father to surprise him when he returned home. Like many of us, he's seen the surprise homecomings, and his dad delivered.

The kids looked on as the curtains opened on the big stage at school, and there were boxes on the stage. Many of the kids thought the gifts were in the box, but they didn't know it was Father returning home early after serving overseas.
