Already an award-winning artist, Jody set out on her own in the late 1980s to develop a solo career. In 1987, she released her self-titled debut album, which went Gold. The lead single, "Looking For A New Love," shot to number one and scored her a Grammy for Best Female R&B Artist of the Year.
