Justin Timberlake in Talks to Perform at 2018 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Justin Timberlake is reportedly in talks to perform at halftime during Super Bowl LII in Minnesota, reports Us Weekly.
The pop superstar and NFL are finalizing a deal that will see him rocking the mic for the first time since the infamous Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime performance in 2004.
To refresh your memory, Janet Jackson was the halftime performer and brought out JT to perform “Rock Your Body.” At the end of her live performance, Timberlake then ripped Jackson’s bustier off, which revealed her elaborate pierced nipple. The "Nipplegate" incident shocked TV viewers and ultimately changed the way the halftime shows operate, with the Federal Communications Commission implementing a delay on live broadcasts.
There have been rumors surrounding who would perform at the halftime show, which will take place on Feb. 4 in the Vikings' new stadium in Minneapolis. There was some chatter that Hov could possibly join JT onstage, but an insider told Us Weekly, "as of right now, it will just be Justin -- no surprise performers."
If Timberlake does get the gig, this would be a major look for the singer and could possibly boost NFL ratings since they have been declining as of late.
Reps for Justin Timberlake and the NFL had no comment on the matter.
