Kanye West Didn’t Lose Millions of Twitter Followers During His Tweets Supporting Trump
Mere days after admitting his love for President Trump, Kanye West has drawn more attention after what appears to be a decline in his Twitter followers. But looks can be deceiving.
Today (April 25), The Life of Pablo rap superstar went on yet another Twitter rant detailing how's he come out of the "sunken place," a nod to Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning film, Get Out. "I'm not scared of the media," he wrote. "I'm not scared of the past and I'm optimistic about the future. This tweet is in love not fear."
Shortly after, ’Ye posted a photo of himself wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap as he stood beside top music executives Lyor Cohen and Elliot Grainge, captioning the pic "we got love." He then went on to upload an additional photo of the Trump autographed hat by itself, writing "my MAGA hat is signed."
It didn't take long for his Democratic and Alt-Right followers to take sides. Even Trump himself thanked the Chicago MC for his ongoing support. While that ensued, thousands took notice of West's Twitter follower count, which seemingly took a devastating decline from 27.8 million to 18.6. However, according to Twitter, it all appears to be a glitch on their end.
XXL reached out to a Twitter spokesperson who responded via email with the following: "We can confirm that Kanye's follower count is currently at approximately 27M followers. Any fluctuation that people might be seeing is an inconsistency and should be resolved soon."
Glitches aside, hip-hop has not taken lightly to ’Ye's latest tweet tirade. While some artists continue to support his comments, others like Smino believe he needs to return to his roots. Smino tweeted out "Make Kanye Black Again," while Boogie simply put "Nigga this is wild."
Hopefully all is well on Yeezy's end. View Kanye West's tweets regarding "Make America Great Again" below.
