Kendrick Lamar Wins Album of the Year for ‘DAMN.’ and More at 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards
Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. wins Album of the Year at the 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards Tuesday night (Oct. 10). He beats DJ Khaled's Grateful, Future's self-titled album, J. Cole's 4 Your Eyez Only, Jay-Z's 4:44 and Migos' Culture.
DAMN. is one of the biggest albums of the year. The TDE rapper’s hit singles off the LP, “Humble,” “DNA,” “Love” featuring Zacari, “Loyalty” featuring Rihanna and “Element” are among the most streamed songs in 2017. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 603,000 album-equivalent units in its first week of release.
K. Dot also has the most streamed album of the year. With three months left in 2017, DAMN. has 2 million SPS., just beating out Drake’s More Life, which has 1.8 million.
The MC also took home awards for Lyricist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video for "HUMBLE." and Hot Ticket Performer.
The BET Hip Hop Awards were filmed in Miami on Oct. 6, and aired on the network on Oct. 10.
