Kevin Gates Gets New Date for Parole Eligibility
It's possible that incarcerated rapper Kevin Gates, real name Kevin Gilyard, could be out of prison at the top of 2018, but that's dependent on the courts.
Sometime this week, the Illinois Department of Corrections updated the "What If" rapper's info on their website, with a potential parole date set for January 10, 2018, and discharge for January 10, 2019. Originally he was slated to be paroled on June 22, 2018, and discharged on June 22, 2019. Fans have to wait and hope the courts approve an early release, so he can get back to doing what he does best, making music.
Gates was set to be released from a Polk County, Florida jail on March 24, 2016, after serving a six-month sentence for kicking a female fan at a Florida concert in August 2015. As he was being processed for release, an out of state warrant issued for his arrest where he was later extradited to Illinois to face felony possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison on April 26, 2017.
