Lake Charles native and friend of The People's Station 107 Jamz, Carmeletta Joseph, released her first book in 2019 last year titled Drowning In Silence, where she talked about her past abusive relationship and her dilemma of leaving or staying. She also won an award for Author of the Year. She chose herself and decided to write about it in the book to inspire and help others.

She is now a part of Love After Abuse. The book features nine authors who have all endured hardships, bad relationships, and turmoil in their lives. They have all come together to show you can have love after those failed relationships and get back to putting yourself as a priority along with your kids. I haven't had the chance to read it myself yet, but abuse is not something to be played with. There are so many cases and, unfortunately, they often go unheard because of fear of safety.

The book is currently available on Amazon, and I will be giving away some copies inside The Afternoon Jump Off, as well. Congratulations to Carmeletta and the rest of the brave ladies for contributing to such a great piece of work. I hope this inspires others in abusive relationships to choose themselves and get out before it's too late.
