Lil Durk Surrenders to Police on Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder Charge
Hours after news surfaced that Lil Durk would be charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and four other felony counts, the rapper has turned himself in to police, WSBTV's Michael Seiden reported Thursday night (May 30).
According to Seiden, Durk turned himself in to authorities just before 9 p.m. EST. His first court hearing for this case is set for Friday. Earlier today, Seiden reported that the Chicago rhymer, born Durk Derrick Banks, canceled scheduled shows and traveled to Georgia to surrender to authorities.
This news comes almost exactly one day after Durk used his Twitter and Instagram accounts to announce that he'd be turning himself in.
Durk has reportedly been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault (shooting at), unlawful for person employed by/associated with criminal street gang to conduct/participate in criminal gang activity, possession of firearm during commission of a felony (vgcsa) and possession of firearm by convicted felon. The charges stem from a Feb. 5 shooting at The Varsity restaurant in Atlanta, which left a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds.
On May 17, Durk's OTF affiliate King Von has been already booked on multiple charges related to the case, including aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit murder, participation in street gang activity, possession of firearm by convicted felon and possession of firearm during commission for a shooting.
