Lil Twist Released From Prison
Lil Twist is out of jail. The Dallas native was released from prison on Wednesday (March 29) after serving time for assaulting former Nickelodeon star Chris Massey.
"I'm Home ! Thank God! #YM," Lil Twist wrote on Instagram.
The rapper was originally sentenced to one year in prison after pleading no contest to six charges. Lil Twist was able to get out early as he only served time for seven and half weeks of his one-year sentence.
Lil Twist was first charged for his attack in March 2015. In November 2014, the MC allegedly broke into actor Kyle Massey’s house and beat up his brother Chris with brass knuckles. The Los Angeles County District Attorney imposed Lil Twist with charges of burglary, making criminal threats, grand theft, battery and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
The rapper's punishment was pretty light, all things considered. Lil Twist could have faced up to 25 years in jail if convicted of all charges.
The 24-year-old artist will hope that his prison stint is the last of his legal troubles. The Lil Wayne protege was also arrested during the proceedings of his assault case after he failed to show up for a court date. Lil Twist's lawyer was present for the hearing, but the judge was not forgiving of the rapper's absence. When Lil Twist finally showed up to the Los Angeles courthouse, he was apprehended and booked upon his arrival.
