Louisiana Lottery Announces $450,000 Wins in Powerball and Easy 5
The Louisiana Lottery has announced some very big wins in lottery games played last night. That means state purchased tickets have paid big money in the last three drawings. On Monday, there was a $50,000 Powerball winner. On Tuesday the Lottery announced a $10,000 Mega Millions winner. And then, there were last night's drawings.
Based on preliminary information from the Louisiana Lottery tickets for several lottery games will be paying out more than $450,000 to players who purchased their tickets in the state. The games that yielded the big winners are the multi-state Powerball game and the Louisiana based Easy 5.
According to the Lottery's Big Wins in Louisiana, there was a $200,000 Easy 5 winning ticket that was sold in Thibodaux for last night's drawing in that game. As of this report, we do not have the name of the vendor that sold the ticket but that information should be forthcoming later today.
The Easy 5 Game had not had a jackpot winner since the April 27th drawing. At that time a ticket sold in New Orleans claimed the game's jackpot. The Louisiana Lottery, on their website, has reset the Easy 5 jackpot to its beginning total of $50,000. That's how much the game's top prize will be when they draw on Saturday night.
The Powerball game generated more than a quarter of a million dollars in winnings for Louisiana players last night. Here's the way the drawing for the Powerball game unfolded last night.
If you missed the numbers that were drawn, here they are:
22 39 43 62 64 Powerball 07 Power Play x4
There were no tickets sold that matched all the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize of $210 million. However, tickets sold in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Tennessee matched the numbers needed to claim a one million dollar prize in the game.
In Louisiana, two tickets sold in the state matched four of the white-ball numbers and the Powerball. By rule, the prize for those tickets is $50,000. Which is exactly how much one of those tickets is worth.
However, the player who purchased the other ticket that matched that same combination of numbers opted-in on the Power Play. That means that ticket is worth $200,000 this morning.
The $50,000 Powerball winning ticket was sold in Sulphur Louisiana. The purchase was made at the Bayou Landing which is located on Highway 27. The $200,000 Powerball winner was purchased at State Oil Fuel in Belle Chasse.
Persons holding those tickets are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket if they haven't already. It's for security purposes. And, they should contact their local Louisiana Lottery office to arrange payment of their winnings.
The Powerball jackpot will be an estimated $229 million when they drop the ping pong balls on Saturday night. If you choose to play, please play responsibly.
