'Movies Under The Stars' In Lake Charles

Summer was brutal in SWLA, but it is officially over! I have always preferred the summer over the winter, but I must admit, after the scorcher we had, I am actually looking forward to cooler months this fall and winter. Even better than a cool break in the weather is the return of one of my favorite local pastimes, 'Movies Under The Stars.'

Presented by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury this family-friendly event kicks off at Prien Lake Park, 3700 Prien Lake Road, in Lake Charles. The first October feature is Friday, October 6 – “Scoob!” (Warner Bros - 2020)

Don't miss all the fun this Friday, Oct. 6 as Scoob and the gang race to stop a plot to unleash the ghost dog, Cerberus! The mystery-solving crew winds up making an even bigger discovery that Scooby has a secret legacy and special purpose.

All movies will start at 6:30 p.m. It's always a great idea to arrive early to get a good parking spot and on the grass in front of the screen. As always movie moviegoers are urged to bring chairs or blankets to sit on. Of course, all movies require good eats! So, feel free to bring your own food and snacks.

Additional treats will be provided by the CPPJ including FREE popcorn and cotton candy at every event. Residents and their families are also invited to wear Halloween costumes in celebration of the Fall Harvest holiday.

In the event of inclement weather, movies will be canceled. Announcement will be made via this website and on CPPJ's website at calcasieu.gov and on CPPJ’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
