NOLA Police Issue An Arrest Warrant For Odell Beckham Jr.
You may already seen the video on Instagram, as the LSU Tigers celebrated defeating Clemson Monday night to clinch the 2020 National Championship. Everybody was on a celebratory high, especially former Tiger and current NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. The Cleveland Brown star was one of many celebs in the locker room enjoying LSU's epic win.
Problem is, Beckham may have took his celebration a little to far when we decided to treat a NOLA cop to some locker-room azz slapin'. The Tigers closed out their perfect 15-0 season with a championship win, compared to none in college history. It was certainly a moment deserving of the massive celebration that occured post-game. The players lit cigars to mark the historic moment, but apparently smoking in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is an absolute no-no.
A New Orleans police officers marched in the locker room and delivered bad news and unfortunately for him NOBODY.was triyin' to here what he had to say. Angry the cop, began shouting and warning arrests would handed out if folks didn't comply. As seen above, Beckham Jr. slapped the officer on the butt for trying to rain on the player's parade and it doesn't look like the cop appreciated his sportsman love-tap.
Though the video ends at that point, the drama has only just begun. According to ESPN the New Orleans Police Department has issued a "simple battery" warrant for the Browns football star. The Louisiana statute on simple battery is a battery committed without the consent of the victim. The punishment could range from up to six months in jail, to a $1,000 fine.
According to reports that isn't the only problem Beckham may have caused for himself and the players on Monday. OBJ was making it rain, shelling out wads of cash to players after the game! He gave money to at least two players, LSU receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin, which can cause NCAA issues for the student athletes and the school itself.
At first, people thought the money Beckham was handing out was fake. Turns out it was real cash, and that poses a real problem. Because of potential backlash from the SEC and NCAA, regarding rules and regulations on students receiving money, the LSU officials tried to get ahead of the story. They released the following statement via ESPN:
"We are aware of the situation regarding Odell Beckham Jr. interacting with LSU student-athletes and others unaffiliated with the team following the championship game Monday night," the LSU statement reads, per ESPN. "Initial information suggested bills that were exchanged were novelty bills. Information and footage reviewed since shows apparent cash may have also been given to LSU student-athletes.
"We were in contact with the NCAA and the SEC immediately upon learning of this situation in which some of our student-athletes may have been placed in a compromising position. We are working with our student-athletes, the NCAA and the SEC in order to rectify the situation."
Now everybody is waying in on what could happen to the players and the school.
In closing we send our condolences out to The Rock and his family. He lost his father, WWE hall of famer Rocky Johnson, last night. After joining the WWE in 1983, Johnson and Tony Atlas were known as the iconic Soul Patrol. They became the first African-American World Tag Team Champions in WWE history when they defeated The Wild Samoans in December that same year. May he rest in power!
