It seems likely the COVID-19 pandemic is a possible contributor to the doors eventually closing at Pier 1 Imports. Their bankruptcy application was approved in court. This means Pier 1 will now begin to shut down retail operations in about 500 stores across the country.

While passing by prior to the pandemic, I would see the parking lot fairly packed in front of the Pier 1 next to the Prien Lake Mall. However, you can never assume how things are going if you're not an employee or close associate of the company.

Pier 1 was started nearly sixty years ago and has included committed associates and great customer service. The chain will begin liquidation sales soon, once they're allowed to reopen their doors to the public. The plan is the have all stores closed permanently by October of this year.
