Police in Standoff With Suspect After Shots Fired at Oasis Motel

UPDATE: 11:00am - The interstate has reopened to both east and westbound traffic and vehicles are moving along North Lakeshore Drive.

UPDATE: 8:00am - I-10 East and West are closed from the I10/210 split on the Sulphur side all the way to the I10/210 split on the Lake Charles side.

Currently, I-210 West is backed up from the I10/210 split on the Sulphur side over the 210 bridge and then all the way to the I10/210 split on the Lake Charles side.

Lake Charles SWAT and the LCPD Police Chief are now on the scene.

The Lake Charles Police are currently on the scene of a shots-fired call at the Oasis motel on North Lakeshore Drive in Lake Charles.

We spoke to a couple of officers who confirmed they were responding to a shots-fired call at the motel and that the suspect is still on the property. The officers we spoke to also stated the subject has barricaded himself inside a room on the property.

More LCPD officers are arriving as they try to resolve the situation, but traffic is starting to back up all over the Lake Charles area due to the situation.

Currently, the feeder road on North Lakeshore Drive is being blocked off by the Lake Charles Police Department while they handle the situation. Traffic is backed up for a couple of miles.

We have also learned Westlake police have blocked off I-10 eastbound at the I-10 bridge and they are having traffic exit in Westlake and turn back around to I-10 westbound back toward the I-10/210 split on the Sulphur side.
