The 2020 Presidential Election is literally down to the wire. We are within hours of what most will agree could very well be the absolute most important election of their lifetime. And while I'm extremely proud that record numbers have already early or absentee voted, and the indicators are good that we will see records continue to fall as people show up at the polling places to vote tomorrow, I'm a little concerned about the outcome of the election and the actions of some who might not be happy with the results.

A recent national survey suggests that over half of Americans consider tomorrow to be "the most stressful day of their life." In fact, nearly sixty six percent agreed that 2020 has been the most stressful year of their lives and two thirds of those surveyed are just ready for this year to be over.

Let's go back to that "most stressful day of their life" issue. Apparently people are not necessarily stressed about the actual election, but more about the possible actions of those on the losing end of the election. That said, Walmart is being proactive, with those same thoughts in mind.

Because of the possibility of civil unrest following the election, Walmart has temporarily removed all firearms and ammunition from their store shelves. Walmart only sells these items in about half of their stores, mostly in more rural areas where hunting is prevalent, but for the time being, guns and ammo won't be visible. They're still available, but you're gonna need help buying them.   In a story originally reported by cbs19.tv, we learn that:

Customers can still buy firearms and ammunition from Walmart but will have to ask a store associate for help.

When asked, one Walmart shopper, who also happens to be a gun dealer, said the precautionary measures make sense under the current climate, just not in small-town America.

Apparently this isn't the first time Walmart has taken this stance. They did it in the wake of the unrest following the death of George Floyd, but that doesn't make this pill any easier to swallow.

I understand why you're doing it Walmart, but I can't believe that our country has come to the point where fear has become such a motivator.

The Shreveport Police Department Won't Be Responding To These Calls Anymore
