Help is on the way for residents living in Calcasieu Parish who need assistance with housing and rent. Starting December 15 through June 2023, residents can apply for the Louisiana Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Calcasieu Parish Jury officials announced the online link to apply for this program will go live Thursday at 8 a.m.

Funds are limited, and one round of assistance will be available per eligible household. If your household has already received ERAP, you cannot apply again.

One or more household members must meet the following criteria:

1.) Must live in Calcasieu Parish.
2.) Residents must provide 2021 tax returns for proof of household income.
3.) Must earn less than 80% of the area's median income.
4.) Must be experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
5.) Must provide proof of housing instability or risk of homelessness
6.) Must earn less than 80% of the area's median income.

Calcasieu Parish, area median income based on household size, is as follows:

One-person household: $40,500
Two-person Household: $46,300
Three-person household: $52,100
Four-person household: $57,850
Five-person household: $62,500
Six-person household: $67,150
