With the coronavirus pandemic impacting the health of everyone in the world, our day-to-day lives have also been disrupted. Another casualty of the COVID-19 crisis is the 2020 Presidential Primary Election, specifically the voting schedules across the country. The postponement is not only to protect the voting public, but a great majority of Louisiana Poll Commissioners are also at risk of contracting the deadly virus because they are over the age of 65.

The good news is voters in Louisiana will get an extra opportunity to cast their votes this election season. In light of the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing guidelines, the Louisiana Secretary of State has extended early voting from the one week standard, to two weeks. The revised dates for Louisiana Primary and General elections are as follows:

Primary Election - Saturday July 11, 2020
Poll Hours - 7am - 8pm
Early Voting - Saturday June 20 (except Sunday) through Saturday July 4, 2020

General Election - Saturday August 15, 2020
Poll Hours - 7am - 8pm
Early Voting - Saturday July 25 (except Sunday) through Saturday August 8, 2020

Get registered to vote now! Voters in all parishes are highly urged to check their voting status and watch for sample ballots via voterportal.sos.la.gov or through the Geaux Vote App. Below are the revised (April 4, 2020) election day dates and deadlines, via the LA Secretary of State website.
