Sulphur Student Arrested for Threatening To Shoot up School
It's unclear if authorities are still investigating, but a 17-year-old Sulphur High School student was arrested yesterday, March 4. Authorities received an emergency call for threats being made at the school. A motive or the circumstances leading up to the threat of violence are unknown at this time. The school's resource officers were on campus at the time of the incident.
According to KPLC, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent reported school officers placed a call to the Sheriff's office around 2:30pm. Vincent said the suspect was a male student, and he is accused of threatening to shoot up the school. Shortly after arriving on the scene, deputies arrested the young man. He was booked and charged with terrorizing, then transported to Calcasieu Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
