A long-time producer of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise just filed a lawsuit against the studio over ‘Hobbs & Shaw.’

Don’t tell Vin Diesel, but the new Fast and Furious spinoff already sounds a lot better than the last Fast and Furious movie. You’ve got The Rock, you’ve got Jason Statham, and you’ve got Idris Elba as the dang villain. Who needs fast cars when you’ve got these dudes to lead your blockbuster...

If yesterday didn’t make you feel especially patriotic, then maybe this news will remind you of the goodness in America’s heart: Idris Motherf—king Elba (that’s his legal name, I swear) has signed on to play the villain in Hobbs & Shaw, the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff starring the only good parts of The Fate of the Furious (sorry, Charlize, but you get it).

My theory that every Fast & Furious movie is essentially a fanfiction of the one that came before was proven correct this afternoon when it was announced that there is a spinoff in the works starring Jason Statham’s Decker Shaw and Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. The two of them had, by far, one of the best sequences in The Fate of the Furious — that giant prison fight — and their animosity-turned-friendship is one of the great joys of the new movie. (I guess we’re just forgetting about the fact that Shaw killed Han Seoul-Oh a couple movies ago #JusticeForHan.) Apparently, the idea for a spinoff came from a deleted scene that Statham and Johnson shot to tack onto the very end of the movie, which the producers loved so much they wanted to save it for its own movie.

Fast & Furious 8 Trailer is finally released and it seems like this will be the final one in the series.
