Alot of the younger generation is not familiar with the name Andre Harrell head of the mighty Uptown Records. The majority of everyone knows Russell Simmons, Rick Rubin, Suge Knight, Birdman, Diddy and Master P. But Andre is definately someone who should not be slept on.

He is the person who launched the careers of Al B Sure, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D and gave Sean Combs aka Diddy his first job in the music industry, but still he doesn't get the props that I feel like he deserves. He recently sat down with the crew from The Breakfast Club and talked about the beginnings of the label and other tidbits that you may not be familiar with.

The Breakfast Club talks with Andre Harrell:

Uptown Records- "Uptown's Kickin It"

Anyone that knows music from the late 80's to the 90's knows that Uptown Records had hits and there is no way that we didn't know a Mary J Blige song or even Jodeci. It's good that people are giving this man his due since there would be alot of artist and labels who wouldn't be around if it wasn't for Andre. Check out a few of his biggest artist on the label below.

Heavy D and The Boyz- "Nuthin But Love"

 Mary J Blige- "Real Love":

Jodeci- "Forever My Lady":
