Troy Ave is not backing down from comparing himself to 2Pac. The Brooklyn rapper announced a new street album titled Dope Boy Troy Vol. 2: NuPac following an interview in which Troy declared himself the second coming of 2Pac.

"A few media outlets with hidden agendas against us real ones done twisted what i said, and thru lemons in hopes of covering & preventing my true message from gettin thru to the masses!" Troy wrote on Friday (April 7). "Well ya Dope Boy Troy gon twist those into Lemonade & Serve it Cold! The Hate can't effect me cause I'm fearless, dedicated, faithful & righteous! Never Wait out the storm Y'all! Go Dance in The Rain💯 With that said on Friday April 14th Ima drop this [Street Album] titled: Dope Boy Troy (vol.2) #NuPac! I'm airing everybody tha fuk out! ..... These Ain't No Photoshopped Pictures, This My Real Life."

Some in hip-hop criticized Troy for his recent Breakfast Club interview. Troy's former partner in rhyme Young Lito and Bronx rapper Mysonne are two of the MCs who have criticized Troy for putting his name in the same conversation with 2Pac.

"Troy Ave is a fucking bozo," Mysonne wrote in the caption of a video posted on Instagram. "I’m just tired of the Bullshit, Us Real ni**as trying to get out the Streets and these clowns trying to stay in Em. I’m sorry but I can’t peacefully co-exist with Suckers. Stop making clowns Famous."
