If you’re a TikTok user, you might have to get with another video-sharing app soon. Based upon a recent CNN report, the Trump administration is talking about banning the app in the U.S. July 7, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, claimed the U.S. was considering the ban due to national security and safety issues. By the way, the ban would extend to much more than just the TikTok app. They're saying that the ban may include several other Chinese developed/produced social media apps as well. Experts say there is a real threat with any app that requires your personal information.

Pompeo announced the ban was a possibility during an interview on Fox News' Monday adding "I don't want to get out in front of the president, but it's something we're looking at." He then suggested if users want to put their private info in the hands of the “Chinese Communist Party” to go ahead and download it. A TikTok Spokesperson said they had already made plans to leave Hong Kong after the government passed a controversial national security law. They also had a clap-back for Pompeo, releasing the following statement:

"We have no higher priority than promoting a safe and secure app experience for our users. We have never provided user data to the Chinese government, nor would we do so if asked." They continued, “TikTok is led by an American CEO, with hundreds of employees and key leaders across safety, security, product, and public policy here in the US."

If nothing else, their last statement is actually true. In May, Kevin A. Mayer, an American businessman resigned from his position as head of Walt Disney Streaming. Mayer had been at Disney since March of 2018. In June he took the helm as COO of Chinese internet technology company ByteDance Ltd. Shortly afterward he was named CEO of its popular social media app TikTok.

We’ll keep you posted on the next move, in the meantime more details concerning all the all the drama with the TikTok app (if you care) is available HERE
