During a cookout in a southeast Washington D.C., 17 year old Earnest Hart was fatally stabbed in his neck, and it all started over a piece of chicken.

Police arrested the man said to have stabbed a 17-year-old boy to death Wednesday night (June 19th), apparently during a dispute over a piece of chicken at a family cookout.

Antonio Shaw, 25, was arrested and charged with second degree murder Thursday (June 20th).

The teen's sister, Patricia Hart said, "My brother died on my lap, and I couldn't do nothing about it."

Hart was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to NBC Washington,

Hart's family told a reporter, Shaw stabbed Hart in the neck after getting into an argument with him over a piece of chicken.

"All of us turned around and all we saw was blood just dripping from my little brother, and he fell to the ground," said his brother Steven Hart.

Octavais Brown, who was at the scene, said medics took a long time to arrive.

"It felt like forever," she said. "I wasn't counting minutes. I was holding his pulse."

She added, "I knew he was gone when they got here."
