White Oak Park Reopens for Visitors and Camping
Good news for those wanting to get out and enjoy nature, White Oak Park is now open. The park, located at 5584 River Road in Lake Charles, was heavily damaged by Hurricane Laura and has been closed since last August. Now that it's reopened, visitors will be happy to know they are now taking camping reservations. As of Monday, March 22, Calcasieu Parish Police Jury announced the park was officially open for locals and tourists to enjoy, with hours of operations Monday-Sunday 5:00am to 11:00pm.
Please note, there are some changes with some of the park's public spaces. Due to the continued threat of the COVID-19 virus, safety protocols have been put in place to keep everyone safe. Until further notice, the park pavilion is not taking reservations. In addition, the campground bathrooms and showers will be closed, as well.
However, there's still a lot to enjoy, as the boat launch, bathroom, and dump site are fully operational. To reserve your camp site, log on to www.camplife.com.
