Update (Sept. 20, 1:19 p.m. EST):

TMZ has more details of Cardi B's alleged incident with an NYPD officer. Sources close to the Bronx rapper say she was riding in a new Bentley SUV around Columbus Circle in Manhattan when another driver hit the whip. Cardi allegedly got out of the car with her cousin, who was also in the Bentley with her, and started arguing with the driver, and that's when the NYPD officer "grabbed her with his arms around her neck and pinned her against the Bentley."

Once everyone involved cooled off, the cop let Cardi go and left the scene without writing up a report or issuing any citations. TMZ says Cardi wasn't injured and won't be taking legal action as of right now. A spokesman for the NYPD tells TMZ they have no record of Cardi's claim.

In a brief video interview with TMZ, Cardi's boo Offset talked about the aftermath of the incident, saying she called him but he doesn't know what exactly happened. He also assured everyone that hip-hop cops, do, in fact, exist. Watch the clip below.

Original Story:

Bronx rapper Cardi B is about to go No. 1 on the Billboard charts next week with her hit song "Bodak Yellow," but as Kanye might say, "Even if you're in a Benz..." On Tuesday (Sept. 19), Cardi tweeted about getting put into a chokehold by a New York cop before quickly deleting it.

"I can't believe this cop put me on a choke hole [sic] just now shit is crazy these NY cops don't know how to do they job FUCK 12," she wrote before wiping the tweet from her account. Asked if the cop was white, Cardi confirmed he was. You can see the tweets below.

Cardi, who's booed up heavy with Offset, just dropped the remix to "Bodak Yellow" with Kodak Black last night, and though fans are patiently awaiting her debut album on Atlantic Records, she recently let people know they might have to wait a little longer.

“I wanted to drop next month,” she explained in a recent interview. “Every single time I think I got all the 10 songs I’m like, I’m buggin. These ain’t it. It’s just like, damn I’m competing with myself. I’m competing with the goddamn No. 2 record [on the Billboard Hot 100] and stuff.’”

XXL has reached out to the NYPD and Cardi's reps for comment.
