HipHollywood reports today, comedian/actor J. Anthony Brown has quit the Tom Joyner Morning Show.  Several reports say the longtime morning show co-host wasn't down with his recent pay cut and decided it was time for him to make a move. Apparently J's big move went down off-air, during the show on Wednesday (January 13, 2016.)

According Urban Insite they reached out to Joyner's network, Reach Media and Director of Communications Kelly Harrington, to validate the breaking news.  Though they didn't get a direct answer, they did get a response.

Urban Insite says they received an email from Reach and Harrington.  Ironically it appeared to be a copy of the 6 a.m. log/transcript from Wednesday's Tom Joyner Morning Show (shown below) as a response to the question of J. Anthony Brown leaving the show:

TOM JOYNER AND J. ANTHONY BROWN OFF AIR DISCUSSION DURING THE TOM JOYNER MORNING SHOW – JANUARY 13, 2016

Today J. Anthony Brown surprised Tom Joyner, Sybil Wilkes and the production staff of the Tom Joyner Morning Show with the following:

After the end of the first break, at 6:10am CT, the hour the following exchanged occurred –

ON AIR – 6:10 am

(Tom Joyner taking the show to break)

Tom Joyner:  Ten, ten past the hour

OFF AIR

Tom Joyner:  Player, you feel alright?

  1. Anthony Brown:   Huh?

Tom Joyner:   You feel alright today?

  1. Anthony Brown:   No, I don’t feel good.  Uh, in fact I’m quitting. I’m quitting today. (laughter from Tom and Sybil) You guys can have it, man. I’ve had enough of this, seriously. Bye

(more laughter from Tom and Sybil)

Sybil Wilkes: (chucking) Bye? What’s the matter?

Tom Joyner:   I don’t know. Did he just cut the mic? Player?…Player?

According to HipHollywoodUrban Insite and Radio Facts, sources close to the situation are all saying the same thing, that J. Anthony Brown's pay was cut by 50% and is directly related to him leaving the show.  At this point, everyone is waiting on an official statement from either party.  Until that happens, J. Anthony Brown is said to be under contract with Reach Media Inc. and the Tom Joyner Morning Show, so it unclear as to what their next step will be.

By the way, Brown took to Twitter following the show and announced he would be doing a countdown show on Soundcloud and iTunes. Interestingly enough, he also posted a motivational message, from Steve Harvey about moving on.
